INFORMATION SERVICES General insurance

Information about insurance is available from a variety of sources. In particular the Information Officer, British Insurance Association, Aldermary House, Queen Street, London EC4N 1TU, will answer enquiries about British insurance companies and their work.

The Association publishes ABI members' statistics and Insurance facts and figures each year which may be had for the asking.

A number of films about insurance and fire and accident prevention are available.

The Association also publishes a free booklet About insurance and issues leaflets on topics such as holiday insurance, taking a car abroad, valuing one's house and contents for insurance purposes, and taking precautions against theft.

Life insurance

Information about life insurance is available in England from the Life Offices' Association, Aldermary House, Queen Street, London EC4N 1TP and in Scotland from the Associated Scottish Life Offices, 23 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh EH2 1AQ. They jointly issue a statistical booklet, Life assurance in the United Kingdom, available on request. Enquiries about industrial life insurance can be addressed to the Industrial Life Offices' Association, Aldermary House, Queen Street, London EC4N 1TL.

Lloyd's

Lloyd's is open to visits by small parties subject to prior arrangement. It is always willing to provide particulars of Lloyd's and to answer enquiries about membership and other matters. Read On: Associateship And Fellowship Qualifications

Election to Fellowship of either Institute or Faculty requires a period of approved experience, normally under the supervision of a qualified actuary. The Institute specifies a minimum of four years, including at least two after completing the examinations before admission as a Fellow.
